This two hour class will take you on a journey through all the aspects of Ceramics, from seeing live demos of wheel thrown pottery, to hand building with slabs and coils of clay, we will explore examples of everything our studio has to offer. Traditional Mexican and Pre-Colombian cookware plus more will be on display. Come play in the clay.  As clay takes several steps to complete, we encourage you to sign up for our on-going classes to complete your own ceramics!!

We will use an 12x18 surface which when finished could be used as a wall hanging or a tray.Art Vallarta has tiles and trinkets and you are encouraged to bring some mementos of your own. I used a plate that I loved and managed to break,  so I made it into something useful. It will be a two day morning class on Wednesday February 19 and 26 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

One Piece Mold Making with Plaster

In this Workshop we will be exploring Plaster and how we turn a powder into a stone with water.  We will make usable molds for dinnerware, stamps, slip castings, soap making, etc.  Students are walked through the process of making a proper cast and all the steps needed for success.  All materials included, students are encouraged to bring in 2 large or multiple small pieces to be molded(Dinner pieces, favorite stamps/texture).  Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Molds will need to dry an hour before pick-up or Members are welcome to leave and store at the studio.

We will use gutta (not the cheese) and get lost in the yummy colors that you can mix and blend. We will use two types of dyes, gutta and salt and of course silk. Oh Baby!!!!!!

Plein Air Class On the Beach

Enjoy and learn about painting in nature. This class will take place on the Playa de los Muertos beach. Ernesto Guerra, a talented acrylic artists with host your class and help you get prepared for your beach painting. You will decide what you would like to paint and set up your painting area. Portable easels and a stoll will be supplied.  An acrylic painting kit you can take home is available or you can use the paints and brushes at the beach. Canvases or Canvas boards are not included so you can bring one or pick one up for at the ART VallARTa store (usually  4 to 12 USD, many sizes available. Please bring sunscreen, a hat, water bottle and even a swim suit if you want to jump in the ocean. Everyone will meet at ART VallARTa at 8:45 to register, pick a canvas if necessary, grab a supply bag and you will all walk down to the beach and get settled. A Real Plein Air adventure.

Shibori Fabric Art Class

Shibori is a type of dying fabric using natural indigo dyes an foxing to create the patterns. We will dye 2 pieces of fabric. You can also bring a white shirt or tee shirt to dye also. The second day, we will be shooting a model in the middle of beautiful Old Town, Puerto Vallarta. The third day, we will be in the gallery working on some of your pictures we took and how to take a picture and a concept and put them together, whether its landscapes, fashion, or fantasy photography. For lunch, I will be taking the photographers to my favorite taco stands, which are hidden gems in the city.
