Felting Workshop with Lori Roussakis
Create a Mexican-inspired fibre wallhanging or art piece using wool felt. Info/General: In this two day course we will discover the unlimited possibilities of this ancient medium as we learn how to create multidimensional texture and surface effects and add vibrancy with natural silk embellishments. Italian merino wool, silk and supplies included. Teacher: Lori Roussakis explores the unlimited possibilities that can be created using dyed wool felt. Lori applies the same fine art principles she has learned from 25 years of painting and collage to make artwork and wallhangings that are multidimensional, textural and vibrant! Lori has won awards for her works and looks forward to sharing a variety of techniques that will allow others to unleash their own creativity with this exciting medium.
Freestyle Acrylic Painting Class
Freestyle Acrylic Painting is a class where you get to do whatever theme of a painting you would like while learning. Do you have a painting idea you would like to paint and would like to do it with the guidance of an instructor? This class is great for a beginner, student or recreational painter who enjoys being around other painters. Material for painting ideas are also in the studio so you can be inspired with your projects. Ernesto Guerra will be the lead instructor for this class that happens twice weekly. You will be able to leave your painting in the studio from class to class or take your canvas home to continue at your leisure. The studio has floor and table easels for you to set up your area. Ernesto will offer basic instruction and offer critics and guidance when you want it. Ernesto is a charming, gentle teacher, and his artwork is also featured in ART VallARTA. If you are a short term tourist this class will also offer basic supplies and the ART VallARTa store on the ground level has many size canvases and any additional supplies you might want to use during or after the class. Ernesto is fluent in English and Spanish.

Classes available Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 am - 12:30 pm & 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm & Saturdays 1:30 pm-4:00 pm
This class will take the beginner student through each step of slab and coiled based handbuilding with demos and ongoing help through the class. You will be familiarized with terms, tools and processes, supporting your creative vision. You will build projects from choosing your own idea, or being inspired by the pieces in the gallery, applying techniques you learn to create a piece that is uniquely yours. This is a fundamental easy class to enjoy, inspire, and explore clay work as an artist!
*All students will be required to initially purchase a Clay kit, that includes 12.5 lbs of Clay, glazing and firing (scheduled) The kit cost of 550.00 pesos (12.5 lbs) will be added to your first class booked. A tool kit will also be required at 532.00 pesos. Any additional classes booked you will be able to opt out of the Clay kit, until you need more clay.
Those who have been former students or are back from previous years are welcome to take the assisted open studio class to continue on your ceramic journey.

Douglas will guide you with his knowledge in techniques and colours to get amazing results and build your confidence as you paint.

Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor with Veronica Rangel
ART VallARTa is excited to announce another season of Watercolor Classes for intermediate students of watercolor taught by Veronica Rangel.
During each class Veronica Rangel, will demonstrate a featured technique for you to incorporate, if you chose in that days work.
This is a class you can join for one or many classes and continue to work on your art work from one lesson to another.
Introduction to Linocut with Lisa MacLean
Discovery the amazing possibilities of relief printmaking using linoleum. Relief prints, a time-honoured printmaking form, are enjoying a resurgence now and are a very satisfying way of making art. Linocut is a direct and simple printmaking technique in which a design is cut into a piece of linoleum with a knife, chisel or gouge, rolled up with ink, and printed by hand or with a press.
Wheel Throwing Clay
Class available Fridays 1:00pm-3:00pm

Students will be guided in Demo based instruction on the electric potters wheel with hands on practice, each student gets their own wheel to use during the class. You will be learning basic techniques, necessary for progressing as an artist in clay using the potters wheel and the myriad of techniques it offers. Its recommend to take at least 3 classes to see finished ceramic pieces.

Live Model Sketch Class
The model will take various poses of different lengths of time and then finish with a longer pose. Different Clothes ,costumes and props will be used.
All levels are welcome and Bart Pass, the instructor, will be on hand for assistance and for critiques.
Sketch paper, charcoal and supplies will be provided. You may bring your own drawing and painting materials if you like.

Mexican Ceramics Adventure – Lecture and Demonstration
A fun, very easy, no fuss introduction to Ceramics! This two hour class will take you on a journey through all the aspects of Ceramics, from seeing live demos of wheel thrown pottery, to hand building with slabs and coils of clay, we will explore examples of everything our studio has to offer. Traditional Mexican and Pre-Colombian cookware plus more will be on display. Come play in the clay. As clay takes several steps to complete, we encourage you to sign up for our on-going classes to complete your own ceramics!!
Mexican Mondays, Culture and Art Painting Class
Cost: Members 425 pesos (plus canvas) Non-members 675 pesos (plus canvas
Each Monday morning we will explore a tradition, icon, folk art or Mexican design. We will make artwork based on the theme of the Monday. The class will start with a little history of the theme and discuss how the theme inspires you and the art you might like to create. Together, each student will make a piece of art. Usually, a small canvas or at times might be a different medium. Supplies will be available and if you want to take you work home, canvases are available in the Art Vallarta store for a nominal cost. If you have a fun idea please submit a favorite Mexican Cultural Icon inspiration you would like to make.
