Nathalie Herling will teach a workshop and offer you hands on instructions so you can make Mexican Sugar Guadalupe's.

This workshop will be for adults.

Over the course of the morning will make different size sugar skulls using molds. After the skulls dry we will decorate. All participants will be taking home a good amount of skulls to decorate their own home altars.

We will start at 11:00 am at the ART VallARTa Studio on Calle Pilitas 213 where we will make the special sugar mixture to mold the skulls and set them up for drying. Approx 3 hours.

Join us Tuesday evening at 6:00pm Chefs Ruben and Nathalie will take us on a journey of different sauces that can be used in many different ways. Taking classic Mexican ingredients and by doing a variety of cooking techniques he will show how you can get many different flavors, textures and options for other dishes. Ruben and Nathalie make Salsas sing. You will help in the preparation and we will eat cool different salsas as we prepare them. We will also learn how to make classic sopes with a filling and test all the salsas that we have made to have some wonderful flavors. Beer, wine, local spirits and jugos are included. You will be comfortably full by the end of the meal and in a very happy mood... sometimes Salsa dancing breaks out from all the happiness. A very popular class!

Commedia dell' Arte arouse during the renaissance as a revulsive reaction to the theatre that was established, made for the wealthy in the courts, marking a turning point on the history of theatre. Commedia brought theatre to the people with larger than life characters that represented the society, establishing the profession of the actor-storyteller. This workshop is a contemporary approach to Commedia dell’Arte that will serve as a physical comedy training for actors and non-actors. The characters of Commedia live on the edge of life and death and their motivations are visceral, the actor’s work is to possessed by the character and the mask. It is full of improvisation and based on archetypical characters. It is fast, funny, cruel, full of slapstick and uses society as the canvas to criticize our system but also ourselves! Attendees will be exposed to:

Dia de los Muertos Shrine Workshop with Carrie Eckert – Sold Out!

Come enjoy two days creating two different shrines in honor of day of the dead. In this two-day workshop (October 16 and 17, 2019) we will be using a variety of found objects to create shrines. You will have the opportunity to either memorial the passing of a loved one and or create a shrine with no person, but instead a theme. It is your choice in working with two different boxes. Using assemblage techniques learned in the class, you will compose your own shrines. We will make a tin shrine and a larger box shrine. If you choose to bring your own boxes, please do so, but please limit the size to no larger than 15” x 15”. Bring your assortment of imagery and that box of ephemera that you’ve been collecting forever and we will incorporate them into your shrine.
