THURSDAY and FRIDAY MORNING CLAY CLASSES with STEPHEN LANDIS
A great class for beginner and experienced clay workers that want to workwith quality Mexican Clay and learn local clay working techniques.
During this class you will learn clay working basics and a wide variety of play techniques. Experiment with the wheel .
Registered Students and Studio members are being invited at $350 pesos plus cost of clay (around $50-$100 pesos) to get your hands dirty and experience working in clay. Join us. More specific skill classes being added but this basic introduction to clay and our studio will prepare you to refine your talents. Cost of clay and firing fees not included.
Experienced potters will be fascinated by the skill of Master Artist, Stephen Landis and he is excellent at working at any experience level. Very inspiring particularly for the experienced clay artist and an excellent resource for complex projects and you can work on the project independently and treat this as an excellent open studio/learning experience if you come to this class with a project.
We recommend you sign up for a group of 5 classes, offering you open studio time to work and practice at your leisure, 10 kilos of clay and includes a $200 peso credit towards firing fees. This five week clay package is $3000 pesos.
Open Ceramic Studio Time
$75 USD a month to use the studio at your leisure. Some restrictions during scheduled class time but a great way to work at your own pace. If you are a beginner you will need to take at least two basic classes to get yourself acquainted with clay and the studio to use open studio time. Experienced ceramicist can be approved to skip the class requirement.
Couples can join the Open Studio Program at 2 for $100 USD or $2000 pesos per month.
If you buy a three month package in advance you can get 3 months of studio time for $150. If you really want to be our patron and keep our studio financially healthy join at the open studio at the annual rate of $600 USD. Annual members get 10% off all classes and art supplies.
Open Ceramic Studio Time includes using our studio facilities, like painting, applied arts. For safety reasons and required expertice, some areas of studio use might require classes or additional instruction. No studio member can operate kilns or machinery without prior approve from Studio management.
Lockers available for you to store supplies and belongings. Bring your own lock please.
Over the fall and winter season we will be holding beginning and advance classes with resident and visiting teachers. If you Like Clay you are going to want to know about our special instructors. In our collaborative studio environment new teachers bring ideas that spread like wildfire through all the artist in the studio. A unique and wonderful experience for artist who like to experiment with new ideas and techniques.
Pottery Studio users should bring an old towel and an apron, wear old clothes and shoes when they work in the area. Some aprons available or bring your own.
Class sizes are usually limited to 6 students.
More experienced throwers can become studio members and work at their own pace and participate in group firings.
